September 24th, 10 – Jake 29

Dear All,

We have had many calls recently requesting another update so here it is!
Jacob is really enjoying getting back to playing the piano, with such a lovely new instrument and newly refurbished music room. He is now going up to London once fortnightly for lessons with his Professor at the Academy, Pascal Nemirovski and is even planning a few concerts.
Some of you may have heard that we have had a rather nasty shock recently. Jacob found another swollen lymph gland in his neck which has always spelled bad news in the past. He’s had a series of horrible, painful and frightening investigations to try and find out whether this is another relapse of the disease. We have just heard today the brilliant news that the biopsy results were all clear- thank goodness! We really are so so relieved as we have had to wait two nail-biting weeks for these results!
The main issue now is Jacob’s feet. They have been constantly painful since nerve damage was caused by one of his chemotherapy treatments giving him a condition called peripheral neuropathy. Jacob often wakes up in sheer agony with this pain and the only medicine which seems to abate it is Morphine which then makes him sleepy all day the following day.
Thank you once again to all those friends who have been so so supportive throughout this horrible ordeal and particularly this recent scare.
We hope to be able to continue giving you good news in the future. Jacob is now fully back on the road to recovery and is already looking forward to going back to London to study in September 2011.
With all our best wishes

Jacob, Jonathan and Cherry x
