May 26th, 11 – Jake 47 Holy Nativity Condolences

I am devastated — I felt like I knew Jacob personally. I watched the whole concert Sunday night and was so excited to now have a face with the name Jacob — I am so sorry – I am at a loss for words — may GOD bring peace and strength to your whole family–  I would love to make a donation to something in loving memory of him — he was an AMAZING  person and pianist —  I will miss him terribly — I will change my prayers to the Repose of his Soul — my heart is devastated — thank you so much for letting me know — and first — again, my deepest sympathy — blessings – CHARLY

What a tragedy!  He had so much to offer and to enrich the lives of others!

I feel like I knew him, personally!

I thank God for his life and all that he was able to contribute to others, even under the most difficult of circumstances.

May the Lord who gave him to us, give him life for all eternity, and embrace his family in their grief and sorrow.

For those who die in Christ, life is changed, not ended!

Fr. John +

This is the news that none of us like to receive. Jake had a remarkable talent and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to have heard him play via DVD. My recent prayers were that the bone marrow transplant would develop stronger and finally overcome the leukemia after all. This is a terrible loss to me as a music lover and one who appreciated the raw talent this young man had. As he played you could see in his face that he was totally consumed by the music. Musicians come in at least two categories. Some are technicians. They play accurately what is placed before them. Others are artists. They become one with their instrument. Jake was a true artist. I cannot imagine the loss the Barnes family feels now. We can only give thanks for the opportunity to have been associated with him in whatever way we were.

Even though it is difficult to do so, I think that, as Christians the only way to look at this tragedy is:

The Lord has given,

The Lord has taken away.

Blessed be the name of the Lord.

I am grateful to God that he died without fear and without pain.

Be blessed,

I am so very sorry to hear about Jake’s death.  His valiant struggle against his illness was inspiring, and the musical talent that stayed with him throughout it all was nothing short of miraculous.  Please tell your family how sorry we are for their loss.

We are so sad to hear the news about Jacob.  I wish we had had the opportunity to meet this remarkable and courageous young man.  We will remember him in our hearts.  Our love and sympathy to all of his family.  Blessings, Carl and Louanne

So sorry to hear of Jake’s’ passing, it was a pleasure getting updates about him, he became part of our extended family.  I cried today and ask God for repose of his soul and peace and comfort for his family and yours.  He truly was a fighter and in his living he gave me strength.

Thanks so much.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Through all the correspondence I feel as if I knew Jake personally.  You all are in my prayers.  He is in his Father’s loving arms.

Love, Melanie

So sorry; the messages of his will, faith and courage were truly inspirational.

We have been following the tale of Jake’s valiant struggle and praying for him and his family all these past months. It is with great sorrow that we hear he has now passed away. His life had such a positive effect on so many people because of his wonderful attitude and his musical talents, as well as his perseverance to live life at its fullest for each day he had. I’m glad he wasn’t frightened or in pain at the last and that he was in Jonathan’s arms. Now he is in the arms of the Lord.

Love, Valerie Pankratz, member of Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, Plano, Texas

Dear McNeny and Barnes family, We are saddened at Jacob’s passing, but feel relief that his suffering has passed & he will be joining that great orchestra in heaven & he has peace & happiness at last. Please let the Barnes family know how much they have touched our souls.  We feel we have been on a journey with them. All that they have gone through humbles us, our grumbles & any woes we have are nothing when we learned of all his storms in a young lifetime. We are in awe of his strength & courage. I believe we are better people just knowing this wonderful lad & his family. Blessings to all of you, Geri & Dick

You have my deepest sympathy. I am so very sorry. Blessings, Carolee & Phil Wylie

“You place your hand of blessing on my head.” (Psalm139:5)

I was saddened to read the news on Jacob this morning.  Please accept my sincere sympathy to you and your family at this difficult time.  I know many have been following Jacob’ s journey and have prayed for healing.  I hope that wonderful memories will sustain you in difficult moments.  May God’s peace comfort you in this sad time.  I am praying for all of you.  Love Kathy Biegler.

It has taken a few days for me to emotionally be able to type this message to you.  I have to say that when I received the news about Jake’s passing, I was moved to tears.  Jake and his family/friends had been in my nightly prayers for months and I really felt like I knew them.  The entire story has been so very, very sad and so very, very amazing at the same time.  What an exceptional young man Jake must have been.  It certainly is a story like no other and I pray for all who knew him and are now grieving. I can certainly understand their grief,………. their loss………… and their bewilderment of why this would be allowed to happen.  How Jake could determinedly continue to forge on with his music was incredible and almost supernatural.

I had sent an eMail message to my friend in Canterbury, telling her about Jake’s concert, but she was unable to attend because of family demands.

My heart breaks and even this eMail is making me tear up, once again.  Please let Jake’s parents know we have not forgotten them in this time of their despair and of Jake who now has the arms of Jesus to hold him.
