March 7th, 11 – Jake 37

We have had the most awful week. In a single few days we lost two dear members of our family. Our cousin’s son Tom and Jonathan’s lovely sister Jane both died within a few days of each other. As many of you know Jane had been ill for a very long time, though for most of her 17 year fight with cancer you would never have known it, she was such a fighter, such a full liver of life and such an inspiration to all of us. There are no words to describe how desperately sad we all feel. This year has had many wonderful moments for us but as a family we are struggling to come to terms with so much sadness too.

Much of the joy has been from Jacob and his music and many of you have been at one or more of his hugely successful concerts played with real passion and exciting skill. Cd of his piano duets with Spencer Payne are now ready for you to collect. Please remind us if you weren’t able to go and asked us to get one for you.

We really do need a miracle right now with his health, and are trying all manner of increasingly whacky alternative treatments to help him. Thank you for continuing to support Jake in whatever way you do.

We have been asked to provide a list of the next few concerts so here they are. We’d love to see you at any of them though quite understand if you are concerted-out by now

This Sunday 13th at 4pm at St Peter’s Methodist Church in Canterbury with the Crowther wind quintet. (Mozart, Debussy and others)

April 6th   49 Queen’s Gate Terrace London. SW7 5PN.    Piano quartets Mozart and Faure with Wine and food £10.    Please let us know if you want to come as they’ll need numbers for catering.

April 13th Marryat Players. Kings College School Great Hall. South Side. Wimbledon.  SW19 4TT. Corelli Concerto Grosso with lots of other lovely stuff  (Grainger, Mahler, Sibelius, Bartok, Sollima) played by this wonderful young string orchestra.

Best wishes, from the Barnes family xxx
